Ho Chi Minh City

We left Sydney at 8:05 am on Thursday Sept 13 on SQ - connected in SIN and arrived at SGN at 6:40pm local time - some 12 hours after leaving home.  To our surprise SGN airport was brand new - our flight seemed to be only one arriving at this time so we were through customs and immigartion in less than 20 minutes and in a taxi to our hotel, The Grand Hotel Saigon.

After a quick snack at the roof top bar/restaurant we hit the sack as we had to get up early for an 8am tour to the Cu Chi tunnels. Our private (as it turned out) guide, Sonny met us right on time with a car and driver to take us to Cu Chi - about 1.5 hours from the city center. The tunnels were really interesting and we learned the sad story how the Vietnamese people had build and hidden in these tunnels during the "American" war. We were back at our hotel by 12:30pm.

After a quick lunch at the Armani Cafe we walked around a few shops then decided to have an afternoon siesta as we were both a bit jet lagged.

For dinner, we selected a nearby restaurant, La Cuisine (based on Trip Advisor reviews) where we had an excellent meal. Unfortunately it started to monsoon around 6pm so we had to take a taxi to/from the restaurant.  Then it was off to bed early.
