A quick trip to Canberra - Friday Nov 8-10, 2019 compliments of Christine & Neil who were not able to go on a LuxuryEscapes package they had booked.
We left Sydney around 9am and drove pretty much straight through to the Park Hyatt arriving around 1:30pm. After a quick check-in we had lunch in their cafe - a shared burger accompanied by our complimentary welcome drink. We were assigned a room in the old section - ground floor - very nice but perhaps not as large as the ones in the new section where we have stayed previously.
We did a short walk after lunch but it was very windy and cold - when drizzle started we headed back to the hotel.
We had an excellent dinner at Ottoman’s - one of our favourites. We walked over 20+ minutes and took a taxi back to our hotel.
On Saturday we walked around some wetlands spotting lots of birds - particularly a large variety of ducks but also pelicans, swans etc We went over to a newly developed waterfront area and had a light lunch at an Italian restaurant then some more walking along the lake front - still battling the windy conditions.
We had dinner at Pomegranate as recommended by Vaia and John - another Turkish restaurant with a similar but smaller menu than Ottomans - it was also very good. It was a lot cheaper than Ottomans but more because we ordered less and only had a couple of glasses of wine as Dieter was driving.
After Sunday breakfast - we packed up and decided to just drive back to Sydney stopping at Broadway to do a bit of shopping. It was sambos for dinner.
