Friday Dec 4
Off to Hobart - we left the Pumphouse around 9:30am and headed to Hobart. We arrived in time to check-in to our apartment right behind the IXL hotel. All went smoothly - the apartment was excellent - views of the city with one small glimpse of the waterfront.
We did a bit of grocery shopping and stayed home for dinner - cold cuts and cheese.
Saturday Dec 5
It was another cool and cloudy day - we walked around the city hitting the Salamander markets - which are huge !!! We did not buy much but had lunch at a pub in the area. We stayed home for dinner again.
Sunday Dec 6
It was another cool and cloudy day - we took the car out to get it washed then visited the Mawson Hut museum and then walked around the Botanical Gardens. We had a late lunch at the same pub and did a bit of shopping - I bought present for my friends Jean and Ann who had both been injured while we were travelling. We had dinner at home again as we could not decide on a restaurant.
Monday Dec 7
We packed up and checked out early (before 9am) and drove to Port Arthur, about 1.5 hours away. We enjoyed visiting this old convict prison and grounds and wished we would have had more time - however we had to return to Hobart airport in time for our 4:30pm flight back to Sydney.
We arrived at Hobart airport around 3pm, earlier than we really needed to but spent a very pleasant time relaxing in the Saffire Lounge - better than most airline lounges particularly in Hobart where there aren’t any.
Back at home by about 7pm we had dinner at Ventuno’s then hit the sack.
