This year we had planned just to go directly to Vancouver/Whistler for 3 weeks of skiing but unfortunately my Mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer so we changed our plans and went first to Toronto to visit her.

Dieter was flying on 2 one-way UA awards using up the last of his points and I had booked my award trip with US points. As a result we originally ended up on different flights to Vancouver but the same flight home.  After hanging out day-by-day for award availability to open up I finally snagged BC seats to LAX then YYZ on UA/AC on Jan 13 and Dieter got the same routing on Jan 16.
