The trip over

Monday May 28immediately

So we finally left on AC at 10:30am on Monday, May 28 right on time. Flight was fine but neither of us got much sleep. We arrived at 7:30am and were through customs and immigration by 8:00am - unfortunately our bus to Seattle was not until 10:00am so we're just waiting in the arrival area as this goes to press. The local weather was cool (15C) and rainy - and Seattle was about the same.

The 10am bus to Seattle finally left YVR at 10:30 for the slow journey including a few more stops to pick up passengers and the stop at the Canada / US border - this included unloading all the luggage and passengers which took 45 minutes; however, we fared better than the people in private cars - their lineup was 50+ minutes long according to the sign board.  We were finally dropped off in downtown Seattle and caught a taxi to our hotel, Hotel 1000 arriving at 3:00pm totally zapped and starving as we hadn't had a bite to eat since breakfast on the plane at 6:00am. Hotel 1000 provided a warm and friendly welcome, a glass of sparkling wine and an upgrade to a suite.

We immediately went to the hotel's restaurant, Boka, for a bite to eat before a serious lie down before showering before dinner again at Boka since we were too tired to look for an alternative. Dinner was excellent - giant sea scallops for me and long line pike for Dieter washed down with an excellent Napa Valley Chardonnay made even better by the fact that all bottles of wine were half-price on Monday evenings. We hit the sack around 10:30pm.
