Saturday Nov 26 - an early start with an 8:45am flight to Cairns - arrived at 11am due to no daylight saving time in Queensland.  We all caught the bus to Port Douglas and were dropped at the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas in time for a lunch at the pool side bar/restaurant. After lunch we got our rooms, unpacked and walked along the beach to PD and the marina so we could check out our included day trips.  Back at the hotel we showered and had a gala seafood buffet at the hotel’s main restaurant.

Sunday - first full day - we had a leisurely brekkie spent the day beach walking and relaxing by the pool. We walked into town and had lunch at Bel Ciao; we had a great waiter who helped make the meal even more enjoyable. For dinner we went into town and ate at Harrison's, one of the better restaurants - the meal was excellent but then one would expect so when paying “Sydney prices”.

Monday - we took the day-trip to the Low Isles on board the Quicksilver V and did some snorkelling. We had dinner at the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, El Pescatore.

Tuesday - we hired a car and drove to Mossman Gorge where did a rain forest walk followed by a very refreshing dip in the gorge. From here we drove onto Silky Oaks where we had an excellent lunch on there terrace overlooking the Mossman River and the rain forest.  We had an excellent Italian meal at Gucci for dinner.

Wednesday - a big day out - a trip to Agincourt Reef on board the Quicksilver V. It was excellent - clear water and mainly clear skies. We had dinner at El Pescatore again.

Thursday - a bit of a rainy day; however, we hired a car and drove to Cape Tribulation where we did a couple of short walks and had an excellent lunch at Cafe Whet. We had a wonderful dinner at the renowned Nautilus restaurant.

Friday - friends of Bill and Fran, Cathy and Barry, visited from Cairns so we all had an excellent lunch at Bel Ciao where we were served by our favourite waiter (see Sunday) and found out he’s from Bordeaux in France. We finished off the day with a bit of relaxing by the pool and dinner at El Pescatore where we got a 2 for 1 special.

Saturday - after a relaxing morning we headed home on the 5:00pm flight to Sydney - finally walking in the door at 10PM.

A great week in Port Douglas with Fran and Bill
